About the topic of discussion:

Following the last event which was focussed on people & processes this time we are diving into how to work with your teams and build a community feel to achieve the best collaboration from your teams inside and outside of work. These events are all about learning, asking questions, collaborating with like-minded individuals in the Manchester Tech Community and hopefully recycling these ideas into your squads.

Speaker 1: Rick Garner, Technical Architect @ BrightHR

Title: What is this amorphous thing Community anyway?

Talk: The term community means many things to many people, but what is The Developer Community? With over twelve years of experience running events in Manchester, Rick Garner reflects on what brings engineers together, and what value it brings and shares his tips for running meetups.

Bio: Rick has twenty-five years of experience building software in dozens of companies of all shapes and sizes. He founded and runs DotNetNorth - a meetup group for Microsoft developers in Manchester which has been running for over a decade hosting talks and networking events. Rick regularly speaks at industry events and is a Microsoft MVP awardee.

Speaker 2:
Si Kirkham, Chapter Lead @ JLR

Title: "Cultivating Collaboration: A Practical Approach to Building Team Culture"

Description: Ask any sports coach and they will tell you a team is more than a group of individuals. So what does a team look like and how do you go about creating one? These questions are not easy when people share an office, with remote and hybrid working it is even harder. So I want to share some practical advice on how to recognise and promote teamwork in a fun way to get people working effectively together and enjoying it.
