Our client is fast becoming a leader in market leader in their sector. They have had phenomenal growth, they are now looking to add 20-40 additional heads to their engineering team in the coming months. Due to their current expansion plans, they are actively seeking a Technical Lead to help manage their experienced development team. This role will sort someone who is looking for their next career advancement from being a technical lead to Senior Management. You will be working closely with the Digital, Data and Engineering teams to support product sprints and deliveries. This role will also involve you to support the development of the technical architecture and design to the IoT platform.
A Technical Lead will manage our team of back-end and front-end developers. This person will work closely with the digital, data and engineering teams to support product sprints and deliveries supporting the CTO with the technical architecture and design of the IoT platform. This is a great opportunity for a senior full-stack developer with management experience who is passionate about renewables and making a difference in the fight against climate change.
Overview of Main Responsibilities:
Advise on the technical architecture of the back end system and work with the CTO to develop, document and implement this strategy
Manage a team of back-end and front-end developers to sprint priorities
Prioritise workstacks and ensure the objectives of the tech team are aligned with those of the broader business
Ensure technical integrity, stability, and quality of the back end system
Set up and perform data quality tests to ensure data accuracy
Understand the various APIs in the ecosystem and the impact of any changes to our platform
Skills / Experience:
Agile development discipline : Familiar with agile development methodologies. Experience using JIRA is a must.
Architecture knowledge : Technical architecture of scalable systems and APIs is a must.
Attention to detail : Strong attention to detail and able to trouble-shoot issues with code and bugs.
Strong technical skills : 8+ years of relevant experience and 5+ years of Java experience in back-end systems. Experience with cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS) and NoSQL databases and distributed systems, and programming in Kotlin strongly preferred. An ideal candidate will be a full-stack developer.
Management experience : Experience in managing small and agile development teams. Experience of also overseeing DevOps preferred.
Flexibility and adaptability : Demonstrate an ability to be flexible and adaptable to change in a fast-paced environment. Be able to juggle priorities when necessary and quickly get up to speed.
Education : Master's degree in computer science or related field preferred.
Personality : A team player who is results-oriented and an insatiable appetite to learn and grow.
