Desktop Support Engineer


£25,000 to £30,000 + benefits.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Desktop Support Engineer to join a leading fintech business in Hampshire. You will join a dynamic team of engineers and you will provide expert technical support to our client's end-users, ensuring prompt resolution of desktop-related issues. The ideal candidate will either be a First Line Desktop Engineer looking to transition to Second Line, or a Second Line Desktop Engineer seeking a new opportunity.


- Deliver first and second-line technical support to end-users through various channels, including in-person, over the phone, or via email.
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve desktop-related issues efficiently.
- Escalate complex issues to appropriate teams or senior technicians when necessary.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Maintain accurate records of all support requests, ensuring proper documentation.
- Provide on-site support as required.
- Assist in setting up new hardware and software.
- Contribute to the testing and implementation of new systems and software.
- Maintain the company's asset register, ensuring all hardware and software are up-to-date and secure.
- Deliver training and guidance to end-users on software and hardware usage.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of support documentation and procedures.
- Assist with hardware and software procurement when needed.


- Proven experience in providing technical support within a desktop environment.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with end-users of all levels.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.
- Familiarity with desktop and laptop hardware and peripherals.
- Eagerness to learn and expand skills and knowledge in a second-line support role.
