Data Centre & Communications Infrastructure Engineer

Data Centre & Communications Infrastructure Engineer with experience of operations work in a datacenter environment, racking and de-racking a variety of equipment is urgently needed to support a public sector client on site in Slough.

The Data Centre & Communications Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for room infrastructure, installation of electrical and network cables, cable management and labelling, installation and configuration of network devices (PDUs, remote management, monitoring equipment).

Data Centre & Communications Infrastructure Engineer- Essential Experience

* Experience of relocating and installing of IT equipment (small UPS systems and batterys rated up to 5Kw, Intelligent PDU's, web management cards and environmental monitoring systems)
* Ability to configure basic network parameters on network devices.
* Understanding of electricity and safe working practices in Data Centres and communications rooms, including understanding risks to key services.
* Competent in transportation of heavy items of equipment and safe manual handling techniques and risks, using server lifts, pallet trucks and trolleys.
* Good understanding of different connector types for Power and networking and able to follow standard data center patching and power provisioning schemes.
* Ability to take on a mobile and agile role, working at multiple sites across the estate.

Please note that the role is inside IR35 and will be based in Slough and will involve some travel between sites.
