Our client are seeking a Ms SQL DBA to provide in depth development & Production database administrator skills, the client require the following skills & experience:

Experience in development and production database administrator roles.
Strong Object Oriented software analysis and design methodology experience (preferably conversant with the UML toolset)
Strong skills in data modelling (logical, physical, ERD).
Understanding of object-oriented programming languages
In-depth experience of the following technologies:-
MySQL 5.1 – 5.6
MySQL database procedures/triggers
MS SQL Server
NoSQL technologies
SQL Server 2008 R2 (2012 desirable) including T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS and SSAS
Replication / High Availability
3rd party or open source ETL and BI tools
Linux/Unix scripting

Responsible for all aspects of the databases and being highly focused on maintaining performance, integrity, replication and security across the Production databases environment.

Ensure that any issues related to HA/DR processes (Clustering, database mirroring, log shipping and transactional replication) are investigated and resolved.

Carry out BAU work as required to meet the needs of the business.

Assist Development and other teams with database design/code reviews, database backups/restores and other activities.

Investigate and resolve database performance issues.

Liaise with external vendors in the planning, implementation and support of 3rd party software solutions.

Ensure that database security and permissions are managed according to best practices.

Take an active role in improving the SQL Server database estate.

Ensure that the DBA documentation set is updated and expanded where necessary

Perform SQL Server upgrades and migrations

To be responsible for monitoring database activity and ensuring that index statistics, database growth/storage, replication, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are in place and functioning correctly.

Team Working

Be an active member of the Database team to contribute to team dynamics, ways of working and assisting with improvement opportunities

Work as part of the DBA community within the Group to align deliverables, solutions and operations

Provide regular and accurate reports of progress to the Lead DBA and the project lead as required

Maintain strong technical awareness and familiarity with new and upcoming technologies
