Communications Manager - London

IQ Public Sector are working with an excellent Higher Education client to on-board a competent Communications Manager. You will spearhead the development of communications and undertake performance management within the organisation and lead by example. You will strive to deliver the highest quality of work by developing staff and work ethics.

You will also lead operational planning of the communications team and have key involvement with the strategic plan to improve student experience.

Key responsibilities:
- Manage the communications functions including all communications content, creative production, digital and online engagement and presence ensuring that all communications delivery is relevant and effective.
- Lead the development and coordination of key messaging and priorities.
- Plan and deliver key strategic communications campaigns.
- Manage the development of digital and social media platforms including the effective collection of data.
- Develop and promote brand guidelines and develop staff opportunities.
- Work to develop an external PR strategy
- Assist in the development and delivery of the communications strategy and associated plans.
- Develop evidence based plans, reports and evaluations on communications activities.
- Line-manage up to 6 staff members as well as students and volunteers.
- Arrange conduct and keep records of management meetings - including performance reviews, appraisals and investigations.
- Responsible for the recruitment and induction of staff in the communications team.
- Manage the learning and development of staff within the team.
- Provide briefings and support to the student officers and involve them in planning and delivery of all activities.

Experience/skills required:
- Experience managing team members and projects
- Managing staff and delivering to tight deadlines
- Delivering campaigns
- Excellent understanding of communications theory
- Knowledge of project management
- Knowledge of using analytics to inform communications work
- Knowledge of communications platforms and social media
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
