Technical Author – London - £300 a day

Are you a Technical Author looking for your next challenge?

A large European retailer based in London are looking for an experienced Technical Author to come and work alongside their product team on an exciting new software development programme, in order to produce high quality client facing documentation regarding use of the software.

What does the role entail day to day?

• Leading planning/briefing meetings to determine the scope of the product and documentation
• Collaborating with developers and managers to clarify technical issues;
• liaising with subject matter experts (POs, Architects, developers & release managers)
• Determining the needs of client end users
• Feedback to POs and dev teams to make products easier to use and thus need fewer instructions
• Work with marketing and training teams to standardise content across multiple platforms
• Continuously revise documents with each new product release

What skills are required?

• Excellent command of grammar and vocabulary
• Passionate about consistency and an appreciation of tone and style
• Curious to ask questions and understand how something works
• Not intimidated by technical detail
• Attention to detail; Accurate and methodical
• An ability to grasp and structure large amounts of information and anticipate the reader's knowledge gaps
• Proven examples of good editorial judgement
• Excellent planning and organisational skills
• The ability to express instructions clearly and briefly in simple English
• Good documentation skills and the ability to produce visually attractive outputs
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, to gather information from and for people
• The ability to work successfully as part of a multidisciplinary team

An understanding of the below would be advantageous…

• Data Modelling, including data classifications of Public, Private and Confidential
• Integration concepts – Understanding API definitions, synchronous versus asynchronous concepts
