Derivatives Business Analyst - London

Role Overview
The overall purpose of the role is to provide business analysis tasks for the Quant Projects and Development team. These tasks range from gathering / documenting business requirements, producing functional specifications, testing, handover with the relevant IT Support team(s) as well as ad-hoc BAU tasks. To succeed in this role the individual must be able to face off to both the business e.g. Front Office as well as IT, applying an organised proactive approach, ensuring they add value to the team.

Please note this is not a Quant role!

Role Accountabilities:
• Complete business analysis tasks within specified timeframes by:
o Gathering, documenting and gaining sign off on business requirements
o Delivery of functional specifications to IT developers
o Carrying out UAT, ensuring all issues have been captured and prioritised
o Performing complete handovers on new system enhancements to the relevant IT support team(s)
• Completing BAU tasks within specified time frames. Tasks range from data changes through to reporting changes
• Build and maintain a good working relationship with the business and IT

Please note this list is not exhaustive and you will be required to undertake further tasks in order to ensure business needs are met.

Knowledge, skills and behaviours required:
• Experience within an Investment Management or similar business as a Business Analyst
• A good understanding of portfolio management, and an awareness of market risk
• Broad understanding across multiple asset classes including quoted instruments such as bonds and futures and OTC derivatives (in particular Interest Rate Swaps, Inflation Swaps, Asset Swaps, Credit Default Swaps, Swaptions, Bond TRS and Index Options)
• Good appreciation of how various instruments are used in the context of a portfolio
• Ability to produce detailed business requirements and functional specifications when needed to support project processes and meet project office delivery requirements
• Experience in complex interface design and a good understanding of data and workflow
• A working ability within SQL coupled with strong Excel skills to allow detailed data analysis
• Experience of the full projects & development lifecycle including processes, methods, controls and standards
• Ability to face off to key Business areas (Front Office / Investment Risk / Investment Technology & Operations / Middle Office and IT Derivative Trade Applications support teams) when determining business requirements / implementing Business solutions. Emphasis on:
o Building effective relationships within and across these key teams who will have extensive experience in the relevant subject matter
o Being able to work with incomplete information when determining business solutions taking into account relevant dependencies, timing and constraints
• Self-starter with ability to plan and manage own sphere of responsibility and deliver to firm deadlines


Advantageous
• Knowledge of end to end trade flow processes (front to back) for bilateral and cleared trades including collateralisation
• Experience working on Swap Execution Facility (SEF) platforms
• Experience using Bloomberg to conduct product / data analysis
• Exposure to market data, derivative pricing and risk
