Role Purpose:

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage an expanding Risk & Compliance team to ensure that key risks including, but not limited to, financial crime, operations, conduct and regulatory risks, are adequately identified, mitigated, monitored, documented and subsequently reported to management and board committees. More generally, responsibility for the continued development, oversight and management of organisations ERM framework and promotion of a risk-aware culture.

Managing our Risks
• Develop and implement appropriate governance and risk management frameworks for our Republic of Ireland business, aligned to best practice and regulatory obligations.
• Identify and communicate changes in the regulations relevant to the business, and ensure these are acted upon in a timely and compliant manner.
• Anticipate future challenges to ensure successful delivery of the Compliance and Risk strategy relevant to the business.
• KPIs and Balanced Scorecard Measures
• Compliant with all regulatory rules, and is able to demonstrate compliance
• Managers have the confidence and competence to meet the regulatory requirements for ROI in their respective business areas
• Regulatory change required within the business is identified on time and implemented in a smooth and compliant manner
• Development of the compliance monitoring programme, the delivery of which provides CCD with assurance that key risks (including those relating to Financial Crime) are being effectively managed
• Risks, including but not limited to financial crime, operations, conduct and regulatory risks, are defined, monitored, reported and within appetite
• Clear understanding of all open risk events and corrective actions across the business.

Experience and Capability:

Previous experience as a Risk & Compliance Professional / PCF who has successfully managed all aspects of a Risk & Compliance Function within a CBI regulated or similar environment.
• Good understanding of relevant Republic of Ireland legislation, regulations and guidance (including CCA, CJA, DPA, CPC for Moneylenders, F&P, FSO etc) with a strong understanding of how the regulator works.
• Experience of formulating, driving and implementing risk strategy, including conduct, financial crime, technology, change and compliance risks, and risk cultural practices in related or similar regulated business environments.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders, along with good communication (written and oral), leadership, negotiation and influencing skills, particularly at a senior management level/Director level.
• Strong commercial understanding and business acumen, with the ability to challenge ROI strategic decisions.
• Effective presentation skills including facilitation of workshops, hosting of interactive meetings and dissemination of relevant (largely sensitive) information to key stakeholders.
• PC Literacy to include middle management level MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point
• Good understanding of compliance, risk and corporate governance frameworks, with previous experience of leading and driving change programmes.
• Sound judgement and ability to operate independently and objectively.
• Proven ability to effectively plan and organise work effectively and prioritise activities.
• Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with day-to-day operational activity.
• Strong people management skills.
