The Design & Construction team is responsible for the end-to-end design and delivery of the data center development pipeline serving a variety of customer requirements in the DC sector.

The Design Manager will be required to provide both tactical and innovative thinking around the design and engineering of data center developments and support the team in meeting challenging deliverables against aggressive project expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DESIGN MANAGER

• A mechanical or electrical design engineer by profession, the Design Manager will be able to evidence the technical ability to support the delivery of concept and scheme designs whilst managing the document flow and successful delivery of detailed designs produced by our Consultant supply-chain.

• The Design Manager will be encouraged to develop a broader delivery of the Design function across all technical disciplines (architectural, civil and structural engineering, MEP engineering, BMS etc.) for data center developments and re-developments as their role develops in time. In particular they will be required to focus on data center fit-out projects as well as supporting the broader business requirements.

• Work intrinsically with the construction Delivery Manager by supporting the D&C team, through-out the project life-cycle, evaluating changes in project scope, clarifying design queries and monitoring quality. On acceptance of commissioning, assist in formally confirming the design intent has been achieved, in-line with project processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree (BSc (Hons)/BEng (Hons)) from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) or Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) accredited university supported by post-graduate qualification(s).
• The Design Manager is already likely to be operating at an Senior Engineer level within an engineering, construction or property environment and will have a demonstrable track record as part of a team for one to two years minimum, of delivering and contributing to successful technically-complex engineering-led projects as part of a team; including experience as a lead engineer on a projects with a total value of Euro 10 million.
• Experience is likely to have come from the design and delivery of capital projects within mission critical environments or technical real estate which could include, data centres, telecommunications or the banking and finance sector, etc.
