Detailed Description

• Responsible for the Vendor Management Framework in operation and evolution including interlocking with other Divisions e.g. Procurement.
• Defining the Technology Sourcing Strategies and approach to Vendor Optimisation moving beyond point purchasing.
• Partnering with stakeholders across all Technology Divisions to ensure direct spend budget adherence.
• Support large, strategic programmes with sourcing activities.
• Role will also influence external third parties engagements and perception of the Bank and its Technology’s Division.
• Solid understanding of how sourcing strategies can not only influence the successful delivery of projects and programmes within the Bank but also change the vendor landscape.
• Understanding of the complexity of the commercial services that underpin Bank activities.
• Highly numeric/strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in understanding how supply chain costs impact budget profiles.
• Monitors and analyses trends in IT supply spending and inventory control in order to make recommendations for the future and to identify areas for possible savings.
• Provide management with regular reporting regarding all major Technology sourcing no matter what stage of the lifecycle the sourcing is within.
• Provide contract and vendor management support to colleagues throughout the Technology Operating Model.
Job Requirements

• Expert regarding Vendor Management issues, able to influence senior managers and Technical experts to ensure best outcomes are achieved for the Bank.
• Able to constructively challenge, coach & improve the performance of key stakeholders with regard to vendor management activity.
• The role will work closely with other managers within Technology to ensure reputation in the external Technology market is a professional and joined up experience from Technology.
• Strong management experience within a virtual team with the ability to drive dependencies to conclusion in order to successfully carry out project objectives.
• Experience and competence to act for Domain Lead when required.
• Able to analyse complex business requirements and as-is landscape in order to effective Sourcing Strategies.
• Successful closure of difficult commercial conversations internally and externally.
• Monitors and analyses trends in Technology supply spending control in order to make recommendations.
• Review vendor’s contracts, and Project collateral to inform future sourcing activities.

Desirable Skills/ Competencies

• Understanding of budget management principles and practice
• Awareness of best practice in public sector procurement processes.
• Knowledge of the Bank’s project and financial governance processes

Technical Skills and Requirements

• Strong understanding of vendor’s commercial behaviour in order to build strong productive relationships that reflect the Bank strategy
• Strong people management skills, with the ability to manage and develop team members as well as provide coaching & guidance
• Self-starting; the role will report to a Senior Manager, so the holder will have large degree of autonomy
• Solution focussed thinking with the ability to present output in business friendly language
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Understanding of budget management principles and practice
• Strength in depth of contractual procedures both before and after contract award in a complex financial organisation.
• Knowledge of project and risk management techniques
• Contract management skills including design, negotiation, supplier performance and corrective action
• Specific knowledge of the structure and challenges of IT contracts both for goods, licenses and services (e.g. software as a service)
