Purpose of the role:
Responsibility for medical technical pricing support to the UK business unit ensuring risks are appropriately priced, writing profitable business and defining the risk acceptance criteria in relation to Travel Insurance. Ensure that the criteria is aligned to business strategy in profitability and growth.
Key Deliverables:
Duties to include but are not limited to:
• Calculating possible risk and quoting to ensure target profitability.
• Calculating market price and alignment to pricing strategy.
• Defining the risk acceptance criteria specifically for Travel Insurance B2C, B2B & B2B2C schemes.
• Producing risk acceptance guidelines and documentation and coordinate this internally and externally with clients.
• Implement, maintain and control the referral process including pricing.
• Assessing underwriting and claims statistics in the business.
• Input to recommend rates, terms and conditions where appropriate and maintain close control of such cases where appropriate.
• Working with the Business Intelligence part of the team to ensure that sufficient BI is provided to support risk acceptance decision making.
• Computing results for appropriate premiums using actuarial information and other statistics.
• Inputting to the product design and Marketing/Sales process to ensure risk acceptance is coordinated and controlled.
• Maintain close links with all departments and assist with the evaluation of any identified legislative and market developments when required.
• Develop and implement solutions that will contribute to the profitable growth of the business.
• To ensure that all regulatory guidelines are adhered to, for example PCI.
• To adhere to the Company’s procedure in accordance with the FCA and PRA guidelines, and TCF (treating customers fairly).
• To be compliant with the Data Protection Act 1998.
• To support Managers to manage the key risks within your department.
• To ensure that you conduct your role in accordance with AFC policy (to act honestly and with integrity) and to report any suspected incidents of fraud and corruption.
• To adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures, including Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Data Protection, Code of Conduct, Security, IT and Internal Control Financial Regulations.
• To undertake any other duty or responsibility that may reasonably be allocated by your Manager/Company’s Senior Management Team.

Experience/Technical Knowledge:
• ACII qualification is preferred not essential.
• Previous experience in Travel Insurance and medical risk is essential.
• Experience in interpreting underwriting calculus and data.
