Data Centre Operations and Onboarding Engineer required to join a leading UK telecoms company, based in their UK Head Office in Berkshire.

As an Operations and Onboarding Engineer, you will be a key member of the Operations Team enabling the onboarding and operation of a large-scale telco cloud environment adherent to the UNICA Blueprint.

Working closely with key stakeholders across IT Infrastructure in the UK, the Programme delivery team, the Vendor and the UK technology towers, to deliver the cloud environment into Operations

The Operations and Onboarding Engineer has 3 keys responsibilities:
• Service Transition –Operational Readiness of the cloud environment (hardware & software).
• Service Operations – Ensuring the availability and performance of the cloud environment throughout its lifecycle, managing all resources and delivering a service centric environment.
o Accountable for the set-up, management and support of the data centre tools and virtualisation functionality (including proactive maintenance, monitoring, 2nd level incident management, as well as problem-, change-management, tool lifecycle management, …)
o Perform integration and validation tasks for data centre equipment and tools
o Monitoring/tracking performance of systems, dimensioning, and capacity planning with respect to future needs, including reporting against KPIs & KQIs.
• Service Transition – Supporting the onboarding of Telco SaaS Applications on to the cloud environment.

The UNICA Operations and Onboarding Engineer reports into the UNICA Operations and Onboarding Manager.

You will have technical knowledge of data centre infrastructure, cloud, virtualisation technologies and architecture with the ability to work across multi-functional and cultural boundaries to deliver results and change.
• Experience within operational teams in a service and customer centric environment
• Excellent stakeholder management, effective at communicating at all levels
• Knowledge of core network architecture and the network elements of mobile networks
• Knowledge of cloud architecture, Compute, NAS, SDN , Firewalls, Routing and NFV solutions
• Knowledge of data centre infrastructure, virtualisation architectures and operational processes (ITIL, ITSM, Prince II)
• Telco OSS/BSS Solutions

• Energised problems solver with a self-motivating personality and a can do attitude
• Good skills in operating and managing Ubuntu Linux (14.x LTS – 18.x LTS), Syslog, SNMP, Bind9, Postfix etc.
• Datacentre Networking in a private cloud environment
• NAS storage solutions: NFS, iSCSI, RAID (Dell-EMC ScaleIO optional)
• Knowledge in operating SQL and NoSQL Databases (PostegreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, MySQL/MariaDB)
• Knowledge of cross datacentre networking GRE, BGP, MPLS
• OpenStack, KVM experience (Mirantis Fuel, RedHat OpenStack)
• Scripting and Automation tools such as: Bash Shell, Ansible, Python, NodeJS
• Knowledge of Open vSwitch, VLAN & VxLAN functionality, NetFlow.
• Knowledge of Layer2 bridging, Link Aggregation, QoS policies
• Knowledge of IP Routing & BGP (preferable)
• Knowledge of firewall policies & security (Cisco ASR, A10 Thunder)
• Experience on-boarding VNFs in a Telco environment
• Knowledge of wireless network – IMS, EPC, VAS, Security etc.
• Knowledge of ETSI NFV Standards for descriptors and interfaces
• Knowledge of OpenStack Heat Templates and automated deployments.
• Basic Knowledge of NetCool, BMC Remedy and ServiceDesk tools and processes
