Finance Analyst

Interquest Solutions are currently working on behalf of their client, a renowned electronics company, looking for a
financial analyst to join their growing team in their London office. This is a contract position

The purpose of the job is to provide Senior Management in Europe and Japan with financial information to manage and control the company at a consolidated European level, as well at an entity level, by analysing & reviewing data from its operations. To perform analysis to create meaningful business information, evaluating and identifying trends and common business issues. Assist in the monitoring and implementation of consistent controls across all companies, and to ensure compliance with Group Finance Policy and requirements

Dimensions:

*Wide ranging role involving advanced systems and reporting timescales, with focus on understanding and interpreting results, and process improvement
*Includes working with the Finance Manager and Shared Services to identify financial and business issues facing the operating companies

Key results area

Analysis
*Analysis of Capital operating companies reported results to ensure integrity and understanding.
*Understand, correct and explain irregularities in data submissions; monitor material variances from Budget and performance against forecast on an ongoing basis
*Understand the business of the companies under supervision and explain accounting issues
*Prepare the annual budgets for all Capital operating entities and liaise with in country FDs
*Prepare the monthly results for the European Board as well as for global reporting to Japan
*Prepare and review the monthly activations of new business per operating company, highlighting any trend and recommended actions. This will include a review of yields and associated cost of funding.

Financial Accounting
*Provide support for the research, evaluation and reporting on technical accounting issues so that compliance is ensured with Group Finance Policy
*Assist in the ongoing development of the Capital financial system in line with technical and holding company reporting requirements
*Providing any other required finance support on an ad hoc basis

Scope for impact

Monthly Reporting: Review of actual results, leading to further investigative review. Follow through to ensure results are understood and senior management are aware of key issues.

Finalisation of Capital results: The role involves working closely with the Head of Finance, Leasing e.g. in calculating provisions/reliable estimates for adjustments. The role is vital to the efficient and timely achievement of external reporting.

Analysis of Capital Operating Companies' results: Data is collected/reviewed and analysed, based on experience of the companies' results and knowledge of future developments and plans within companies (to analyse forecasts and estimates). There may be data requiring further clarity and integrity reviews. The results of the subsidiaries are then summarised, highlighting key areas, and presented for review to the CFO and Japan HQ.

Group Finance Manual policies: Ensuring compliance with group policies and any changes that affect leasing.

Forecasting: Review of forecasts ensuring any business issues are identified and followed up on

General: Identifying improvements in process controls and recommending improvements. Implementing any changes that will improve control and ensure standardize across all entities

Communications and working relationships

*Senior Management:
oclarification of reported results, including variances to budget and forecast
orespond to queries from senior management.
*Capital company management:
oensure the accuracy and clarity of reported results within agreed reporting deadlines
*Parent company: provide information and answer queries as required from HQ in Japan
*Other internal departments: provide analysis and participate in projects
*Other external advisors: liaising with auditors and other consultants

Knowledge, skills and experience required

*ACA or similar international qualification, with relevant experience
*Ability to communicate effectively across international functions and departments, both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff including internal & operating company senior management
*Ability to give presentations to both Management staff and key members of staff in the operating companies
*Structured approach to analysis and reporting, with a focus on process improvement and adding value
*Knowledge of UKGAAP/IFRS and US GAAP
*Advanced computer skills
*Fluency in one or more European languages would be advantage, although it is not required
